CIT’s Spring Book Club

noun_111416_ccThe Center for Instructional Technology invites you to read with us and engage with colleagues in a discussion about teaching and learning. Throughout March, we will be reading Generation on a Tightrope: A Portrait of Today’s College Student. Authors Arthur Levine and Diane Dean use extensive survey data and research to explain how current undergraduate students understand their world. Both college instructors and administrators can use the insights in this book to improve students’ opportunities to succeed in college. Along with exposing their perceptions of education, the work also reveals how the students view history, morality, and politics in ways that differ from previous generations. Finally, the book examines the experiences that are unique to them–such as the ubiquitous presence of the Internet in every corner of their lives.

  • Faculty Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 1, 8, 22, and 29, from 3:00-4:30 in Bostock 024. We ask that applicants attend at least three of the four meetings.
  • CIT will provide drinks and snacks.
  • Apply now to take part in the Faculty Book Club (space is limited; deadline is February 12. Teaching faculty receive highest priority, but staff members are also welcome to apply).

All active participants will receive a paperback or Kindle copy of the book free of charge.
